The Canary Islands have 218 official bathing sites, all located along the coast. Of the 214 assessed sites, 209 are rated 'excellent', 4 'good', and 1 'sufficient' – an excellent rating for around 98 percent of assessed locations. The islands are characterised by Atlantic conditions, volcanic landscapes, and a wide variety of beach types. There are no lake or river bathing sites in this region.
