Latvia offers 58 bathing sites across its Baltic coastline, rivers, lakes and transitional waters. Of 55 officially assessed sites, 44 are rated 'excellent', 8 as good and 3 as sufficient. The variety of site types is notable: 18 coastal bathing sites, 16 lakes, 14 transitional waters and 10 river sites. Sandy coastal stretches and calm inland lakes are characteristic of Latvia's bathing landscape. The high proportion of top-rated sites makes Latvia a strong destination for water-based recreation.
